Mahakal Lok Corridor Ujjain: 108 Pillars, Murals & Photo Spots
Inaugurated in 2022, the 900-metre Mahakal Lok corridor has transformed the temple experience. Here's how to enjoy it without the queue stress.

The layout
Two giant entry plazas — Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar — open into a 900m walkway with 108 ornate red-sandstone pillars, 53 stone murals depicting Shiv Mahapuran, a lotus pond, and a 25-foot Shiva statue at the centre.
Entry & timing
Free entry. Open 6 AM – 10 PM. Light & sound show at 7:30 PM (paid, ₹150). Photography is allowed in the corridor (not inside the sanctum).
Best time for photos
Just after sunrise (6:30–7:30 AM) for golden light on the murals, and after 7 PM when the entire corridor glows in warm uplighting. Avoid 11 AM–4 PM — harsh shadows.
What to look for
Pillar No. 1 (Tandav), the Saptarishi mural, the giant Trishul fountain, and the rear viewing deck for the Rudrasagar lake reflection of the temple shikhar.
